Where to Eat

Most of our guests grab a few groceries from the Piggly Wiggly 2 miles north on Main Street and eat on the deck at the Yurt. Or for more specialized treats and drinks, check out Cambridge Market on Main Street and/or Cambridge Cooler at 109 Jefferson St. There is an outdoor grill with charcoal provided (or just cook with wood – also no need really for lighter fluid since there are plenty of fire starting materials in the yurt for you), and indoor wood stove with a flat top and wood provided, utensils, pans, and accessories for your usage. There’s no electric, gas or plumbing. So, fire is your friend for heating food and beverages.

If you want a real restaurant, then here’s some options:

  • Cambridge Market Cafe – current info is on facebook. They also have Breakfast (not open Sundays) and good local gourmet snacks (doughnuts, wine, pretzels, coffee, lunch, etc). Location is 217 W Main St Cambridge.
  • Stable Rock River Front Winery, 123 W Milwaukee St, Jefferson WI
  • Cambridge Winery. A delicious assortment of local wines, and a limited but tasty food menu. It’s a few miles west of the Yurt towards Madison. See availability and details on the internet. Address is 700 Kenseth Way, Cambridge.
  • Keystone Grill on Main St – Open Mondays and Tuesdays when most places are closed. Super friendly, local craft beers. Super casual. Burgers, Fish Fry, etc.
  • Pizza Pit – They will deliver to the Yurt. More than just pizza. 423-3600. Open after 4pm during the week and after 12 noon Fri/Sat.
  • Lewis Station Winery. It’s about eight miles away in Lake Mills, but totally worth the drive if you like that “farm to table” thing. 217 N Main St, Lake Mills.
  • NorthShore Chophouse. Delicious seafood. More of a “celebration” type dinner place. One of our favorites. Ask for a lakeside table at sunset! 1835 N Shore Road, Ft Atkinson
  • The Grist Bar and Table – Wisconsin Style Bar and Grill -103 S Main St, Lake Mills.
  • SmokeHouse 88. A step up from good bar food. 855 Lexington Blvd, Ft Atkinson.
  • CC Sandwiches – This is our authentic deli next to Cambridge Cooler. Menu in the YurtCation Information binder. So good. 111 Jefferson St. Cambridge.
  • We have a dollar store and an Ace Hardware in case you need to stop by for a camping item. They are just east of CC Sandwiches and Cambridge Cooler (walk in beer cooler here).
